1st day (yesterday) all higher seeds in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament advanced. Today, however, such was not the case as a #2 seed (SUNY-Cobleskill) upset a #1 seed (SUNY-Delhi)–and on the Broncos’ home floor yet. Now Cobleskill’s next match is the conference tournament final, against the top seed in the NAC’s other division (Maine Maritime).
The higher profile conferences (WIAC-Wisconsin area, UAA –Emory, Chicago, Wash-St. Louis, New York University, and SCAC –mostly Texas schools, with top ranked Trinity-Texas and Southwestern-TX, and the NESCAC–mostly New England area) have several good squads that either are ranked in the D3 Top 25, or are “also receiving votes” When it comes to national tournament time, somethng’s got to give because there’s no gaurantee that they’ll get in (even less so if there are upsets prior to or in conference tournament final matches.
Two Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (Wisconsin-Northern IL schools) underdogs I’ll be watching are IL Tech and Milwaukee School of Engineering, (neither of which were expected to make that conference’s tournament.
